RSS Graffiti

Setting Up Targets

A target is the Facebook group, page, or profile you want RSS Graffiti to publish to. Click “Add target” to get started. You can open the target settings window after the initial setup by clicking on the name of the target.

Target Setup

The “Choose Target” option selects which Facebook profile wall/timeline, page, group, or event RSS Graffiti will publish the feed items to.
The “Publish on Behalf of” setting lets you choose which persona the posts are created on behalf of. This setting only applies to pages, because when you post to a page you can post as your profile or as the page itself.

Post Options (Style)

RSS Graffiti allows you to choose from three different posting styles:

  • Standard – creates posts with full attachments. Use this if you want your posts to include a media attachment such as a link, image, video, or audio clip.
  • Compact – much like a standard style post, but omits the attachment name and description. This was created for use with micro-blogging services.
  • Status Update – creates a status update. These types of posts cannot include an attachment.

Bit.ly Accounts

You can add a bit.ly account to track traffic through your RSS Graffiti posts. First, make sure you have signed up for a bit.ly account and are logged into to bit.ly. The next step is to add your bit.ly username and key to RSS Graffiti. Click on “Account Settings” in the publishing plan dashboard, and click on “add new bit.ly account.” Next, while signed into bit.ly, click on the http://bitly.com/a/your_api_key/ link to access your bit.ly API key. Your bit.ly API key allows RSS Graffiti to generate links on behalf of your bit.ly account. Once you have copied your username and bit.ly API key into the RSS Graffiti bit.ly account setup window, click save.

Now go back into target configuration window, and click on the bit.ly tab. You will be able to select the account you just added to be the shortener for links posted by this publishing plan.
